I used to have a blog before they were called “blogs”. I called it “Thinking Periodically.” It was a lonely html page that I would download, edit, and re-upload everytime I wanted to update it. I posted one-liners that didn’t really mean anything to anyone else but me. Or so I thought…

Until people started to react to them – especially close friends. They would ask, “what does this mean?” or “is that about me?” I would always respond, “well what does it mean to you?” A question answered by another question, how very Socratic of me. But really it turned into a disguise: a way of being incendiary without outwardly appearing as so.

So that blog died.

It became too outwardly focussed instead of internally. It ceased to have meaning for me, instead trying to create meaning in others. Hopefully this time around, things will be different.
